Sofwave Skin Tightening in Kelowna
A non-surgical ultrasound treatment for mild to moderate skin laxity on the face, neck, and select body areas — suitable for all skin types, with virtually no downtime.
Lift & Tighten Without Surgery
Sofwave is an advanced ultrasound treatment for mild to moderate skin laxity. It delivers targeted ultrasound energy into the mid-dermis, where collagen remodelling supports firmness, definition, and skin quality over time.
At Interior Dermatology Centre, Sofwave is not offered as a one-size-fits-all device treatment. Dr. Burrows assesses each patient’s skin quality, anatomy, degree of laxity, and goals to determine whether Sofwave is appropriate — either on its own or as part of a broader cosmetic treatment plan.
Sofwave adds a new option to our cosmetic treatment platform for patients seeking non-surgical skin tightening with virtually no downtime. Because it uses ultrasound rather than light-based energy, Sofwave is suitable for all skin types and leaves the skin’s surface intact.
How Sofwave Works
Sofwave is a non-invasive treatment that uses Synchronous Ultrasound Parallel Beam (SUPERB™) technology to lift, tighten, and smooth the skin. It directs ultrasound energy 1.5 mm deep into the mid-dermis, heating the tissue just enough to trigger a natural healing response that boosts collagen and elastin production without damaging the skin's surface.
Ultrasound: The device creates parallel beams of ultrasound energy that safely heat the mid-dermal layer where collagen and elastin fibers are most dense.
Integrated Cooling (SofCool™): An integrated cooling mechanism protects the outer layer of the skin (the epidermis) while the deeper layers are heated, preventing burns and requiring zero downtime.
Cellular Regeneration: The controlled heat acts as a mild thermal injury, stimulating fibroblast cells to ramp up the production of collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid.
Targeted Depth: Sofwave delivers ultrasound energy at a controlled depth of 1.5 mm within the mid-dermis. By limiting treatment to this collagen-rich layer rather than directing energy into deeper facial tissues, it helps reduce the risk of unintended effects on subcutaneous fat, muscles, and other underlying structures—supporting natural-looking tightening without unwanted volume loss. Patients may begin to notice improvement within several weeks, with results continuing to develop over the following months as collagen remodelling progresses.

What to Expect During Treatment
1. Consultation
Your consultation begins with an assessment of your skin quality, degree of laxity, anatomy, and cosmetic goals.
2. Treatment Planning
Dr. Burrows will recommend the appropriate treatment areas and discuss whether Sofwave is best suited on its own or as part of a broader treatment plan.
3. Treatment Appointment
Sofwave treatment is performed in clinic and typically takes approximately 30–40 minutes, depending on the area treated.
4. After Treatment
There is typically minimal to no downtime. Most patients leave looking like themselves and return to normal activities immediately.
5. Results
Results develop gradually as collagen remodelling occurs, with improvement continuing over the following months.
How Sofwave Fits Into a Cosmetic Treatment Plan
Sofwave is often considered when the primary concern is mild to moderate skin laxity. However, skin aging is rarely one-dimensional. Pigmentation, redness, texture, fine lines, volume loss, scarring, and laxity may each require different treatment approaches.
During your consultation, Dr. Burrows will assess whether Sofwave is the right treatment for your concerns, or whether another option — such as BBL, Moxi, HALO, fractional and full-field resurfacing, RF microneedling, neuromodulators, dermal fillers, or a combination plan — may be more appropriate.

Is Sofwave Right for Me?
-
Sofwave is a non-surgical ultrasound treatment designed to improve mild to moderate skin laxity by stimulating collagen remodeling in the dermis.
-
Common areas include the brow, lower face, jawline, under the chin, neck, décolletage, upper arms, abdomen, and above the knees. Other areas of mild to moderate skin laxity may also be considered depending on anatomy, skin quality, and treatment goals.
-
There is typically minimal to no downtime. Most patients leave looking like themselves and return to normal daily activities immediately.
-
Some patients notice early changes within several weeks, with improvement continuing over the following months as collagen remodeling progresses.
-
Many patients see meaningful improvement after one treatment, while patients with more pronounced laxity may benefit from two treatments spaced approximately three months apart. Maintenance treatment may also be discussed over time. Dr. Burrows will recommend a plan based on your skin quality, degree of laxity, and goals.
-
Sofwave can be uncomfortable. Patients typically feel heat and brief moments of intensity as the ultrasound energy is delivered. Comfort measures, including non-invasive cooling with a Zimmer chiller, may be used during treatment. The sensation is temporary, and there is no required recovery period afterward.
-
No. Sofwave can improve mild to moderate laxity, but it does not replace surgical lifting for patients with more advanced laxity.
-
Because Sofwave uses ultrasound energy rather than light-based energy, it is suitable for all skin types. Individual suitability is still confirmed during consultation.
-
Yes. Sofwave may be combined with treatments such as BBL, Moxi, HALO, laser resurfacing, RF microneedling, neuromodulators, and dermal fillers depending on the patient’s goals and treatment plan.
-
Sofwave primarily targets the mid-dermis with ultrasound energy to support tightening and collagen remodeling without disrupting the skin’s surface. Laser resurfacing is often used for texture, sun damage, fine lines, and resurfacing. RF microneedling may be used for tightening, firmness, texture, and certain types of scarring. These treatments work differently and may be combined when appropriate.
Sofwave Pricing
Sofwave pricing depends on the treatment area and individualized treatment plan. A consultation is required to determine whether Sofwave is appropriate and to provide a personalized quote.
The Best Treatments to Pair with Sofwave
-
HALO
HALO is a hybrid fractional laser treatment that can improve visible sun damage, texture, fine lines, and overall skin quality. It may be discussed when patients want resurfacing benefits in addition to the skin-tightening support of Sofwave depending on Dr. Burrows’ treatment plan.
-
RF Microneedling
RF microneedling combines microneedling with radiofrequency energy to support firmness, texture, tightening, collagen remodeling, and certain types of scarring. It may be considered alongside Sofwave when additional tightening, texture improvement, or acne scar treatment, depending on Dr. Burrows’ treatment plan.
-
BBL
BBL may be discussed when redness, pigmentation, sun damage, or overall tone are part of Dr. Burrows’ treatment plan.
-
Moxi
Moxi may be discussed as part of Dr. Burrows’ treatment plan for patients looking for a lighter resurfacing option to support tone, texture, and early sun damage with minimal downtime.
